Clomid 50mg and no hcg trigger shot

I'm going to ask my dr for a hcg trigger shot but if she doesn't prescribe one for me my friend has one she never used she is willing to give to me and teach me how to use it.  I will plan to give myself the shot 36 hours before my scheduled IUI. Have any of you ladies ever did that before? I'm really desperate at this point and I think we are missing the right time to do the IUI by a couple of hours and it's so frustrated. Sidenote I go to a IUI not a RE :/
