I have a question?

So today I had my 39week check up.. I'm a tight 1cm dilated(I've been telling myself 1 1/2 bc my doctor actually has some pretty fat fingers lol) and 50% effaced! anyways.. she went ahead and told me I'll have a 40 week check up (we'll see if I make it too it(let's hope not)) anyways she said if I make it to my 40 week check up we can talk about trying this little strip(cervidill) that they insert vaginally and leave in over night.. it's supposed to give you contractions to dilate you and it ripens the cervix, or she said we can go ahead and induce with the pictocin.. anywho, I'm wondering if anyone was offered this strip and went ahead and did it? Also, if you did how long after having it inserted did you go into labor?
