weird periods

SO... beginning of 2016 (January) I got the implant to lower my chances of getting pregnant. I then didn't have my period for about 2months later then finally in March I got it, however I had it for the whole month. I was all cool with this as the doctor said it was normal as all women are different and my period will either become regular or it won't come at all. However it's now near the end of December and I've had my period since the middle of November! But the colour and consistency (weird ik sorry) is very different, it's almost quite brown and I only get little bits at a time thorughout the day so it's quite light. So my question is, is it normal to have a period for this long and about 9months gap. Also is it normal for the colour to be almost fully brownish? ❤
