What's my risk for the cord coming out of the placenta?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I have heard two women last year died because of that reason. I don't know how true it was but it was on the news. Just wondering what's my risk of it? My mom keeps telling me they have other health problems! I will be having a c-section. Also what helps nausea besides crackers and ginger ale?

The cord is actually attached to and part of the placenta so I'm not really sure how it could come out. But placentas can be torn and detach from the uterine wall in which case if the placenta were to detach yes the cord would go with it. Hope this helps and yes your mother is right that they most likely had other problems and did not seek medical attention right away as I can only see the bleeding being a cause of death to the mother. But at 6 weeks hun there is no cord yet and the placenta hasn't even formed yet. That will all be completed by about 12 weeks. Just take a deep breath no worries and get yourself through that first trimester. Congratulations 😊

Most pregnancies are uneventful so I wouldn't worry unless you have reason to believe something is wrong. If that's the case, go to the hospital or call your practitioner.

Eat small and frequently to help with nausea. Unfortunately, you likely won't beat it completely. However, you can learn by trial and error what helps you.
