My ILs keep telling me not to spoil my baby or carry her too much?? WTF! I do not understand why they say "let her cry so that her lungs develop" Your lungs are already developed at about 32 weeks gestation! They also say that if you do not let them cry, you'll get them used to it and become spoiled. They say "then they'll make you tantrums when you do not give them or buy what they want" I think there is a difference between a baby, an infant and a child. A baby should recieve warmth and affection so that they do not feel lonely. An infant needs that too, but the difference is that you have to let them ask for things with speech (obviously you need to teach them with repetition) so they teach themselves to talk, to teach themselves how to walk. If bigger child who already speaks and walks cries for things is tantrum already and if you fulfill their tantrums, then it is there when they are badly accustomed (spoiled)

A baby is a miracle. I do not understand how there can be women who carry a baby 40 weeks in their belly to not want to cuddle afterwards. Whenever my daughter is born, I will embrace her as much as I can. I need to let her feel all this love that I have and the anxieties with which we have waited for her since her father and I planned out to have her. Conceiving is not easy for everyone. So if someday you see someone embracing their baby and you feel the urge to tell them "don't spoil your baby, you'll make them brats when they grow up" you better shut up. You have no idea how much emotional wear and tear that couple or single parent has suffered just to feel the joy of having that baby in their arms.

I had a bad UTI at 19 weeks where the bacteria E. Coli when straight to my kidneys and caused my right kidney to shutdown. I was admitted for two weeks while having contractions and hearing docs tell me my baby was tough but to keep in mind there was a 50/50 chance to keep her in.. and a 8% survival if she was born prematurely at 20 weeks.
