Do you let your baby cry it out before going to bed?

We're trying to establish a bed time routine for our 8 week old daughter and she can get very fussy before going to bed. Every time she cries, I pick her up however I have the feeling that this will makes things last even longer before she sleeps. What do you ladies do and how is it going?

Unless I'm driving and can't pull over, I do not let her cry. They are much too young to cry it out.

Yes but only under these circumstances:
Full belly, dry diaper, it's just whining, and I know he's exhausted. Sometimes he wants to whine and grunt before he sleeps. There's a difference between a distressed cry and a little bit of whining.

Yes. My kid will not sleep anywhere but my arms or his crib. He will rarely sleep in other people's arms. He also hates the swing and can't keep pacifiers in his mouth for long.  So when I see his sleep cue, I swaddle him and rock him to a sleepy state but still awake and put him in his crib and just walk out. He will cry for a while, sometimes up to 20 mins but goes sleep. This is what's working for us right now because it's taken a shorter amount of time to get him to sleep with crying it out then it did with me rocking the crib for 40 mins plus.

I voted no because i dont let her cry it out. This said though when she is tired she cries before falling asleep. So sometimes when she cries I put her down and rock her gently side to side and wait for 1 minute. Usually she falls alseep quickly then.

We are using the fade out method so place him down when tired but awake... he isn't really all out crying more fussing and I'm slowly moving farther and farther away from him. I go and pick him up after a min or 2 if he hasn't calmed down. Started by his crib then moved to sitting in my nursing chair then to the door... now he calms himself after a min with me stepping out of the room. He now trusts that im now close by and has been the last couple nights falling asleep on his own with me stepping out of the room.

At 8 weeks, they're still a little young to be "spoiled" but as an infant teacher and mom of 3, I can't tell you by 3-6 months they know how to cry just to get your attention without actually needed anything from you. They've learned that crying gets you to come to them. That being said, if you're comfortable letting your baby cry it out, I've also read studies that say there is NO harm in letting them do so. Everyone's personal preference is the same. I let my oldest cry it out 15 min max. With my middle we lived in an apartment upstairs and I felt bad for neighbors so I gave him 5 min max. (My oldest slept thru the night by 3 months, middle by 2 months his was more natural on his own) my youngest is only 8 weeks now and still gets held A LOT. Plus he shares the room with us and our toddler because we're living with my parents right now. So to let him cry it out would affect more than just us. We will see how it goes with him.

15 minutes max to cry it out and only when I genuinely need a break. His pediatrician have me the idea to do it this way.

8 weeks is too young to cry it out. 6 months they can begin to self soothe. For now they need to know you are there to take care of them.
