ATTENTiON LADIES with morning sickness!!!!
Ok so mine hit me hard last week (5 weeks) and it was totally consuming my life in a bad way and I had been feeling really depressed that I would never ever feel better. WELL do I have news to share!
As counterintuitive as this may sound, I have started going to my spin class in the earlier morning btwn 7-8 am. Sounds terrible right? WRONG! I wake up at 5 to have an English muffin with peanut butter and then head to class ~1.5hr later. Exercising in the morning has totally turned my life around. The science behind why exercise may help ease morning sickness is supported by the fact that exercise shunts. Blood away from the GI (stomach) region and Into you working muscles. This is actually a scientific fact, I am an exercise physiologist by training but it never occurred to me that this principle could be applied to morning sickness!
My other discovery: baby food like bananas. Or especially applesauce and bananas that come in those squeeze pouches!!!! I have one after class but also throughout the day if I need to ward of nausea. The banana obviously is great for tummy troubles but the applesauce with banana provides a little extra fiber for those of us that suffer from some of the other unfortunate side effects of pregnancy
Anyways I really wanted to share this because it was like night and day improvement for me even though it seems like the last thing you would want to do when you don't fee well. Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not the girl in the front row dawning a sports bra and leggings with nothing jiggling around. I struggle mentally sometimes when I know I need to hold back (baby doesn't like too much jiggling when we sprint) but just going to class with the goal to just pedal for an hour works for me! I do work hard but setting small attainable goals and keeping my mind off of the nausea is the most important.
Please please give it a try, you may be so pleasantly relieved!!
