My husband still contacts his ex mother-in-law. We're on the bed and he's talking to her, telling her he's sick.

I think that's odd. To be civil is fine but to phone if there aren't children or it's not child related is weird.

I just called my ex MIL to tell her happy birthday and that I was pregnant. Just because you divorced someone doesn't mean you have to divorce their family. You can still have a healthy relationship with them.
