Question about Antibiotics

I have been sick for 2 weeks now and tried to kick it naturally. I'm still coughing up phlegm and blowing my nose (yellow/greenish snot). I have an appointment with a doc at 1:00pm today, but am afraid they will put me on an antibiotic. I'm 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant and have read that they can cause birth defects. Hubby and I leave for vacation Monday and I really don't want to be sick. I was sick for final exams, my birthday, and Christmas. Anyone taken antibiotics while pregnant and had everything turn out okay?
