pill and cramps?

Been on the pill for 4-5 months now. I got on the pill not just for sex and pregnancy prevention, but also for acne and my cramps. I had horrible, horrible cramps prior going on the pill and they hurt so badly to the point where I couldn't even get out of bed and crying. I have had little to no cramps the past few months which were great!  But today, I have slight cramps for some reason?  Does birth control help only eliminate the majority of your cramps?
