Can epidural cause the baby harm?

I'm a FTM and this is my first pregnancy and I want to go natural if possible but I know there is a possiblity that I may really need the epidural and I want to be prepared but I will NOT use it if it could harm my baby and I read that it could so is that true or not?

As with any drug, potential for side effects and complications are always possible.  The drug is offered because the medical field feels the pros outweight the cons but it's definitely a personal choice.  I was pretty sure I was either going to die or have to kill someone if I didn't get mine.

There are some risks with an epidural as there are with all drugs. This sounds like something you should talk over with your dedo that you feel comfortable knowing all the options and possible risks/side effects

Please ask your doctor this question. Most women have a bias when answering this question (ie they're for epidurals or against) and that will heavily impact their answer. Your doctor will be able to help you subjectively weigh the pros and cons for YOU and YOUR baby, without a personal opinion like you'll get here.
