Anti-Cry It Out
Anyone else feel so sad for little babies who are "trained" using the extinction/Ferber method? If you do any research, you'll realize how toxic it is. Crying it out isn't a thing. Your baby cries to signal it has a need; when it stops crying researchers believe a baby thinks it has been abandoned, and it goes into a catatonic energy-saving mode. You don't train your baby to have no needs, you train your baby not waste energy signaling a need. A baby is born without a developed prefrontal cortex, and it therefore is unable to rationalize fears away. It is so cruel and it clearly putting the parents' needs far above the child's. I'm all about taking care of oneself so that you're able to better care for your child, but this method is too cruel. There are better ways to get some sleep!
