Someone just told me they think the world needs to be rid of religion. (I was on the subway) I'm religious so obviously I'm biased that we shouldn't. I understand that countless people have had bad experiences with religion, but completely get rid of it? My faith is what grounds me. I'm not saying people need religion to be a good person but most religions teach about love, forgiveness, and kindness. I feel like the person I was talking to was mostly focused on extremists.

There's freedom of religion but sometimes it feels like religious people are telling everyone they need Jesus or non religious people saying we need to chill out and stop confining things.

The stranger said no religion would make the world a better place. I just wanted to hear anyone's thoughts on this.
