My husband is dead set on it. I agree that the medical advancements they've made with it is amazing but I know the real life chances of us needing to ever use it are infinitely small, especially since neither of us have any genetic issues. It makes him feel better to have it and I would rather do it than throwing it away (we did talk about delayed cord clamping). It is quite expensive though and the science doesn't fully back up storing it for as long as these services offer. Mostly because it's such a new science and there needs to be more research about how long the cells can be stored for and still be viable (most services offer storage up to 18 years).

My husband and I talked about it.  Doing our research it's just way too expensive. We then considered making it open to the public. It's free and supposedly the chance of your baby's cord blood being used by another is infinitely small.  According to the site we were using, most of the time the blood goes unused by the parents as well.

After a lot of consideration I think we have decided to delay cord clamping and allow the baby to have most if not all of the cord blood at birth.  I'd say just research and do what you think is best.
