What does it mean when you're spotting?

Brianne • Finally working trying to stay on my feet and provide for our son. Trying to get prego we shall see what happens
Ok my last period was December 23-29 than on January 6 I was spotting and it ended the night of the 9th well started spotting again on Saturday not cramping not heavy just spotting. And no I'm not on birth control
