Copper IUD

As I get closer to my due date, birth control has been on my mind. I have tried all kinds of birth control but never Paraguard. I have read mixed reviews online about it and wanted to see if any women on here have used it and what they thought of it.

I am really wanting to stay away from birth control with hormones in it because I always seem to have some issue with those.

Condoms are out the running too due to latex allergies and my SO has a bigger member down there and breaks the ones that are latex free.

I had it a couple of years ago and I loved that it was hormone free, so it didn't mess with my natural 25 day cycle. It was rough going in, but I haven't had children and I did it on a whim at the doctors office and I could have taken pain meds before hand or something to dilate my cervix a bit (that was the previous plan but I chickened out), I had a couple weeks of cramping and spotting afterwards but after those two weeks everything was good. I'm pregnant now and plan on going back to that after the baby is born.

I loved it.It did give me bad cramps, which I'd never had before. So I got a heating pad.It also made my period last a bit longer, and my flow quite a bit heavier. I found that using a cup instead of tampons helped... less expense, less frequent bathroom trips. It had its inconveniences, but being hormone free was such a huge plus, since any kind of hormonal BC has always made me depressed and self-hating.  I'd use paraguard again.

I had the Mirena. My cycles remained normal as far as timing but became more painful. I'd experience heavy cramping & as time went on the cramping only got worse. Also after having it removed I had 3 miscarriages in 18mos. For a while there I didn't  think we'd have any more children.

Mirena is out of the question for me. I have had it before in the past and it was a nightmare. I developed ovarian cysts because of the extra hormones.
