any Probation or parole officers here??

So I was supposed to start online school this past fall for becoming an ultrasound tech and made a last minute decision of not wanting that for my career. I've always been extremely intrigued by law. And one thing I've been interested in is becoming a probation or parole officer. I know the schooling/training differs from state to state, but if you're either of these could you tell me what you had to do please? :)
