I need to understand the LGBTQ community

Hi guys!! I'm looking for someone to explain what it's like to be LGBTQ today. Where I live, we don't have many of you for me to get to know but I know it's a big deal in the world right now!  I'm afraid I'll have a difficult time explaining it to my kids if I don't understand. (For example, how do I explain LGBTQ to them when they are too young to understand sexuality?) I'm really hoping you guys can teach me so I can be educated and represent the community well when it's time to explain it to my kids 😋✌🏽
