Try again or move on?
Just wondering what other people would do in this situation. I have wanted the copper iud for a long time. I finally talked myself into it last August. Here's the tricky part it took AN HOUR for the doctor to get the iud placed because my cervical opening is smaller than the tool to get the iud in. However my doctor is a midwife so I figured she knew what she was doing. Side note: I had taken hydrocodone for pain killers before hand, I had some left over from nasal surgery in April and my doctor approved this medication for me to take prior to iud insertion. The procedure was still incredibly painful. After an hour she placed the iud! I was so incredibly proud of myself for making it through that which seemed like it would never end. I have heard and read that most placements take 5 to 10 minutes. She also told me that having a smaller cervical opening occurs in 20% of women. She measured my uterus to 6cm which is the minimum to have an iud. But 9 days later it fell out!
Here are my questions:
Given that situation would you try the iud again? It's a painful insertion that takes longer than most and it may fall out again
Also why did the hydrocodone not work for my pain? Is it because it was from April? And I did insertion in August? The drug did not expire...
I'm wondering if I should stick to pills or maybe try the arm implant?
Also can't do methods with estrogen and I have already tried the shot so those are all of my options. I really wanted the copper iud because it is nonhormonal. Any thoughts or advice would be great at this point! Seriously frustrated and feeling like I got hit with the unlucky stick!
