Question please don't judge

I wrote a check out a week ago and the person promised to hold it until today, well my bf was suppose to have enough money to give me to cover the check, he doesn't he only has half of it. Well I paid my mortgage online and that's pretty much the rest of my money. So will the money just come out of the account anyway and I'll just have a late fee along with the overdraft amount? I'll be able to cover it next week. Like I said please dont judge I really thought my bf would have the money for me. I will probably call the bank tomorrow to let them kno what's going on. I hate situations like this.
