Anti-depressants during pregnancy?

Question

Hi all, i was prescribed sertraline (also known as Zoloft) but I chose not to take it because I found out I was pregnant.
I've recently been advised to take them again. Currently at 17w5d pregnant, no known complications.

Just wondering if any mummas on here have had any experience with anti depressants during pregnancy, good or bad. I just want to be sure no harm or risk will come to the baby if I do take the tablets.

I've been on an SSRI as anti anxiety meds. My psychiatrist said that stress hormones tell the baby they'll be born into a stressful environment and alter their brain chemistry, but being on meds to help control your neurotransmitters keeps you calm and let's the baby know you and they are safe. He also said the literature on SSRIs and pregnancy is not conclusive and in his opinion there is no medical reason to withhold this treatment from a mom who needs it. In short, happy mom, happy baby. I will say my midwife has been extra cautious with me on meds, requesting additional testing and check ins but so far everything looks great at 28 weeks!

I needed to go onto Sertraline 8 months after my first baby. She's now nearly 11 months old and I'm on Sertraline but just found out I'm pregnant again! 
I have concerns about taking an anti dep in pregnancy, I really don't want my baby having any abnormalities. But I'm much better on Sertraline at the moment and fear that I'll go into a slump off it, feeling demotivated and depressed and anxious. I need to be there for my first baby every day and I feel Sertraline is helping me so much right now. I can't get much advice from the psychiatrist as he says " it's my decision". He said Sertraline is one of the safest in pregnancy although there's no guarantees. I don't find him much help telling me the way forward. Apparently, anyone has a 3-5% chance of having an abnormal child anyway, and the studies on pregnant ladies taking Sertraline are few because they were cases purely coincidental (on the med and fell pregnant, for instance). I'd just like to know, what ladies had taken Sertraline and had a healthy baby? Thanks so much.

Ive been on sertraline my entire pregnancy. I just have extra check ups and he's growing just fine. Don't feel bad if you need them take them.  You need to feel better in order to look after your bundle of joy💙do what's best for you x

I am on anti depressants, fluoxitine, and frankly it is the best thing I've done.

I am 20 weeks and have worked taken Prozac my entire pregnancy.  I need it , point blank . I'm a better woman and mother with it and honestly I haven't felt super intense lows which is why I take the medicine.  I get so depressed during pregnancy normally . This time around I'm feeling okay.  If you need it mamma take it ♡

I was told no to my Paxil and trazadone but remain on my clonazepam.
