Should I tell my obgyn I had an elective ultrasound?

Adrianna
Last week I found out the gender of my baby because my obgyn insisted on the 20 week scan and I couldn't wait haha. Should I tell her I got one done and maybe bring in the ultrasound pictures??

Okay I don't think I'll tell the obgyn cause I don't want her to be upset or say like the gender isn't 100% until 20 weeks. My baby is clearly a girl and I've already bought pink stuff haha

Doesn't matter the 20 week scan isn't to find out gender anyway it's just something they offer to do while they're there looking at blood flow, organs, and over all growth of the baby/babies.

When I went in for my 20 week scan, the ultrasound tech asked me if we knew the gender yet & I told her yes because we chose to have an elective scan done but we wanted to be sure. Either way, they are still going to do the scan & look at everything anyway. The 20 week scan is so much more than just finding out the gender.

No I didn't cause if it's not done by an actual tech at the hospital for medical reasons and check ups it doesn't matter. Paying for one on your own is just for you and safety of mind, nothing medical is recorded. :) 20 week scan is measurements, gender and checking health

Why wouldn't you? All elective scan places near me send the results to the doctors anyways. Where I live it's pretty common. My doctor thought it was cool and was glad we got to have to chances to confirm her being a girl :)

I did. He was actually happy she could be a girl. He said he's excited to confirm

I had one at 15w5d and they told me girl. At 18 weeks my tech asked me if I wanted to know the gender and I told her I knew and she confirmed. Never told my actual Doctor though because it didn't seem necessary! They usually don't see the gender as being a necessity!
