I think Shabana has a greater need for feminism than I do, as I live in a first world country, but there is still definitely a need for it everywhere.

Unfortunately, in my opinion that's something women tend to do a lot... we compromise and tend to settle for something with lesser value, we are constantly thinking "it could be worse" instead of saying " it shouldn't be like that in the first place". I do that sometimes myself but it is holding us back and down!

Just because things can be worse doesn't mean we shouldn't have high standards. Accepting and normalizing bad situations just because "they could be worse" keeps us from moving forward towards better standards of living. We should always expect the best, and not accept crappy situations.

My husband says sexist remarks at least I don't get beaten
My boyfriend beats me at least I don't get raped
I was raped by four men at least I don't get married off at 14
I was sold to a man I don't know at 14 at least I don't have to be a slave
I am a slave to a cruel master at least I don't get stoned
I got stoned for showing a bit of my hair at least I don't get acid thrown on me
My husband threw acid in my face and on my genitals because I didn't clean properly at least I'm not dead
My husband and his friends raped tortured and killed me but at least I don't have to suffer anymore....
My mommy and daddy say that these are my options one day and that I should hope I'm lucky enough to have a husband one day. If I act right maybe I'll have a chance of not feeling sexism and abuse. Mommy and daddy say I don't need feminism because I already have enough rights and I could have it alot worse. A boy just touched my butt on the playground then spit in my face. His daddy taught him that that's how you show you like a girl. At least my uncle doesnt touch me in bad places......
Feminism is a much needed thing. I'm sick of these anti feminism jokes and comments. Until every woman is held equal to a man, until no woman has to go through pain caused by men, and until every man is properly educated about and sensitive to women feminism will never go away. It isn't wrong to have better standards for yourself. Feminism isn't about women wanting to rule over men. Feminism is about those little girls not having to face the horrors that us women go through every single day. I refuse to sit back and let it happen. Every feminist does and I applaud any who protect the rights of others. These situations are very real don't just brush it off.

It's not about being greatdul that things aren't worse it's about asking whether things can't get any better. I think there are still some inequalities for upper middle class white women living in 1st world countries (America excluded perhaps) but they're largely insignificant and more something that individuals can deal with in their own. But women lower down in the socioeconomic spectrum still have a hard time of it as do those who belong to ethnic/religious miborities despite living in the west.

Just because someone's situation is always worse does not mean there isn't a problem in your current state and that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to fix it. There's always going to be someone else with a worse issue. There's always going to be a country worse off. There's always going to be someone in more pain, BUT just because someone's been shot doesn't mean we don't need to take care of our toothache. 
Everyone will fix their own problems in their own time. Everyone needs different things. We just need to keep building and working on where we're at in life, no matter what other people, states, countries, etc are doing. I absolutely HATE when people try to invalidate people's feelings and situations.
