As someone who struggles with weight and severely low self-esteem, I can say that this picture definitely hits home for me and a lot of other women and young girls.

Shame on the fashion industry and media in general for putting this in young children's minds (this doesn't only happen to girls.)

It definitely shows how young girls feel when they look at images like these and feel like they aren't good enough unless they look like that. I struggled a lot with my weight growing up and I was convinced I was ugly because that's what people who I didn't even know would say. My mom is the only person who ever really made me feel like I was beautiful. It was okay to not be skinny. It was okay to eat food and like it. It was okay to simply be who I was and that it was what's on the inside that counts. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a better, healthier you. But there's a portion of girls out there who will never be satisfied with what they look like no matter what they do to themselves. There's a void they will never fill because they don't feel like they're worth something. It's why I'm grateful for my mom.

Hm. Shows the unrealistic expectations that fashion magazines are teaching young ones. Telling them how they are not good enough and pretty enough unless they're super skinny. Lovely.
