immunizations

I know this is a VERY controversial topic and I'm not trying to start a war. What I want is more information so I can make the best decision for my child.
I choose to vaccinate. However, my 5 month old clearly has not received full series or certain immunizations bc of her age.
I had a women come over to my house with her kids. We were casually talking and she mentions she doesn't vaccinate. We continue to talk, I ask questions bc the idea to me is foreign (but I'm not judging just curious).
After she left I did some research on the 'safety' of non vaccinated children around  fully/partially vaccinated children- needless to say this was exhausting.
I take my daughter out in public all the time (grocery stores/restaurants/regular stores), so I'm  not naive to the fact she could catch something. However, I couldnt help but feel something was off.... I almost want to say I felt 'violated' that the choice was never an option for me to decide what is best for my baby. I don't want to use the term violated bc I'm all for doing what's best for your child. It's her choice and I'm proud she believes in it.
I emailed my doctor bc I'd like to get a medical side to this, but what have been your experiences?  Are my thoughts common amongst new parents?  Or are they unjustified and I need to stop worrying?
