Weight loss

Shanie
I'm genuinely not trying to be obnoxious here but I have lost a lot of weight since Having My Baby. Too much weight. I gained a healthy amount when pregnant, around 35 pounds, but now I lost all of that and more. Does anyone have any tips for curbing the weight loss? I was a healthy weight before having the baby it would like to maintain that as I've seen my milk supply drop.

I would make sure your eating the right amount of calories and healthy fats. Breastfeeding burns calories. So you want to eat about 300 more than you usually would.

Maybe try increasing the healthy fatty foods like nuts, avocado, cheeses and you might be able to add more calories without making yourself feel sluggish and crappy.

You need to be eating around 2000 quality calories a day, and include a lot of healthy fats...coconut oil, real organic butter, natural peanut butter, Olive oil, whole eggs, avocado, fish oil, etc. Increase your protein intake, a easy way to do this is to make a smoothie with a scoop of protein each day, and you can bulk the calories in the smoothie by adding in one of the above mentioned fats. Also, adding those healthy fats into your diet will also increase the healthy fats in your breastmilk so it's a win win ☺. My fitness Pal is a great calorie and nutrition tracker so that will help you track your fat/protein/carb intake. Once you've changed your nutrition and you continue to have issues with weight gain have your Dr check your thyroid.

I've got sort of the same problem. I'm weighing less than pre pregnancy and it's hard to maintain my actual weight - and whenever it drops more my milk supply diminishes. What I'm not happy about is that my the fat/muscle ratio is way inverted towards fat. And I struggle trying to find healthy satisfying snacks. I've been eating tons of fruit, avocado, whole grain cereals, veggies, rice, meat. I don't fancy sweets and can't eat dairy since my daughter has intolerance, and that makes it that much harder ..
