how many changing mats?

Question

I'm a FTM and didn't know how many changing mats I need - shall I get one for his nursery (permanent fixture) and one to keep downstairs? Or is just one enough?

We have one changing table in the baby room. But let's be real.. everything is a changing table eventually lol the floor the couch the kitchen table.

We only bought one actual changing pad for babies room and then extra changing pad liners for around the house. The liners are like thin waterproof mats that you can use to cover the actual changing pad itself or just use them on their own as portable changing mats. We live in an apartment so I plan on keeping one mat in the living room and one in our bedroom. Personally I think this works out better than multiple big changing pads. Because the mats you can easily roll or fold up like a blanket for easy storage (for example for my living room i keep mine in a little basket with extra diapers etc. under our coffee table.) and you can lay them out anywhere, on the floor, sofa, table, wherever you need to. So you don't have to worry about setting up multiple changing areas to accommodate a big changing pad.

I would get one for upstairs in the nursery and one for downstairs. 
We're going to get a portable one to keep in the back of the SUV too

For downstairs we got a play yard (pack and play)with a built in changing station, it was great because we could use it for many things (e.g. a place to put baby when he became mobile and I needed to do housework etc) and it could easily be folded up when we didn't need it.

I have the changing table with mat upstairs and the pack and play set up downstairs that has the changing table portion. With my first i only lived in a tiny little place and ended up still being too tired to go "all the way to the bedroom" and ended up with a second changing area on the couch with all the supplies in a basket under the coffee table.

I only have one on the changing table in my daughters room. I don't mind taking her upstairs to change her diaper, it's good exercise. But it's really up to you and what you prefer.

I had one changing table in my daughters room when she was born. I maybe used it a total of 2 times. I kept diapers and wipes in every room of the house. I was not about to go from the living room to her room just to change her diaper. Call me lazy lol but it just seemed pointless so for this baby I have one which is attached to the pack n play in my room; however, unless we're in my room I won't be walking to my room just to change him. I'll change him in whatever room I'm in at the time.
