Should I work up until my due date?

I'm 35 weeks and 5 days pregnant and spoke to my job about maternity leave. They said I'll be on short term disability and gave me the form for me and my doctor to fill out and that they need a note from my doctor when I can  leave and come back to work. I went to my doctor today and she said she won't be able to fill out the form since it's not known yet if I'll have a C-section, natural birth, etc and how long I'll recover from it. Also she said that I can work up until my due date and since I'm a ftm that it'll be likely the baby will be born 2 weeks after the due date which is Feb 18.

I worked up to my 38 week. It all depends on how you feeling. I could've worked more but I wanted to get away from my coworkers lol 😂 I was tired of " you ready " and if sneezed wrong they thought I was going into labor lol

I had to fill one out with my EDD and that will be changed according to when I deliver. My job doesn't allow you start maternity leave / STD before you deliver unless your doc has a medical reason for why you can't work so I have no choice but to keep working until I deliver, it made the decision easy lol

For mine, the papers to be filled out for what was being planned for, so we filled them out based on my due date and a vaginal birth. If that changed, then I had to submit a change form asap. It's not "likely" you'll go two weeks over your due date. Just as many babies- even first babies- are born early as are born late. I would call HR and ask what they need to ensure you get your benefits, and then speak to your doctor again. This isn't something to want to wait for.

Most workplaces know that the dates can change. Typically STD leave covers 6 weeks for vaginal, 8 weeks for cesarean. And this is typically the unspoken rule in the birth world. The FMLA paperwork my midwife did for me shows that my due date is 2/15 and barring complications, she expects me to return to my regular job duties by 6 weeks (8 if it would a ceserean). As long as I update my HR when baby is born (if before due date) they will start the leave clock at that point rather than my due date. If complications arise, you can extend the leave.

I've worked up to giving birth (literally day of or day before) for all but my last. It gave me something to do. With my last, I had complications and was bored. I used my FMLA before he was born because of this and went back to work at 11 days postpartum because I didn't get short term disability.

I worked until i went into labor  . After getting off of work I went into labor.

That's a tough one. I'd ask your doc if there's so sort of way they can fill aspects of it out, like general estimates, and fill another one out after you give birth? I don't know. I know I would hate working till I gave birth personally. I get very uncomfortable those last couple weeks. /:

I'm planning to work up until baby. Even if I take the last week before EDD off, I could still have 2-3 weeks just waiting around!

If your feeling up to it I would, but if your not maybe take off the week before your due date.

I worked up until the day before my induction and I was going to work the day of my induction but decided not to. I'm a ftm my son was due June 25 but didn't arrive til July 3. I say just keep working so you can make sure to get all of your time off you need especially since you really don't know when baby will arrive and how.
