If they are like that for over an hour and you have drank water and laid on your left side and it hasn't gone away, you are good to go in

You should go! I had mine every 7-8 mins just mild pain and i was in actuve labor already i went like this until i dilated to 8cm so just go!

Not everyone has them strong. Like the other ladies said, if they last for an hour, they want you to go in or at least call.
Saying that, I had some like these, lost my mucous plug, was dilated and effaced but I wasn't is active labor. It took me 10 days to start active labor (with contractions 5-1-1 on and off). The difference with active labor was that they kept getting closer together and each one was more painful than the next one. But as not everyone has prolonged prodromal labor, it's better safe than sorry.
