Help, I'm clueless. Is this safe to use??

Question

Does anyone have any experience with this? It was given to me at my shower yesterday, I would like to use it if it's safe. I have read several things about not adding after market pads to your car seats. It looks like it can be used in a storoller as well though. Help I'm clueless and I don't like returning unless nesasary, especially if it's a gift.

Anything that doesn't come with your car seat or that is not made by the same manufacturer is not crash tested with the seat and therefore not safe to use. In the event of a crash, it also voids your warranty (not that that would be your main concern but just for the record). You can use it in other things like strollers, tho!

I also got one of these and I used quite a bit for the first 3 months. I didn't use it for car seat, like most my car seat came with newborn insert. But I used it in stroller, on boppy lounger I used it a lot and in this other rocker.  If you have a tiny baby it's nice to keep them cozy and secure in this. But on the other hand it's certainly not a must have so if you need other things exchange it. People don't usually mind :)

I wouldn't use it .. my baby did just fine without one. Although my dad would wrap thin blankets next to her head because he swore she was uncomfy, but she was never left alone while having that near her head. Maybe I'd use it like if you were going to be awhile somewhere and she is sleeping in the car seat but not in the car

You could use it with the stroller down the road. I didn't buy that one, I got an Eddie Bauer set that only supports the head. Easy to snap on for a little extra cushion when they're first sitting upright in the stroller. I saw the one with body support but I don't see the added benefit for using it with the stroller.

The hospital will do a car seat check before they discharge the baby. If it's unsafe they will let you know. I don't see a problem with it. Our car seat comes with an infant insert.

I read something about how we're stressed about kids having beck support, but really they don't need it. It said the support pushes their head forward and can actually make it hard for them to breathe normal. Even though they look uncomfortable to us it's better for them to have their head to the side. I thought that was interesting.

Not safe for a carseat. Maybe a stroller. Id return it and get something you will use more. Aftermarket products arent safe for carseats. Its so fluffy and cute though.

My hospital made me take mine out. Anything that does not come with the carseat has not been tested with it for safety and they didn't allow me to keep it in.
