When did you realize that you no longer love your partner?

Was there a certain moment or certain event that made you realize that you no longer love your partner and you ended the relationship or marriage? Was it something they did specifically besides the common reasons like abuse or cheating.

Answer

Yes. My ex and I were together for nearly 7 years and I knew for a while that things were going downhill but there was definitely a moment that I clearly remember thinking "I'm not in love with this man anymore". It was the moment we had an arguement and normally I'd cry and argue back but I felt no urge to cry, no urge to fight with him, and sleeping on the couch didn't bother me. Him texting me back at work didn't bother me. Him coming home was a bit dreaded. I gave up in the relationship and had no more fucks to give. When that fight left me, I knew I was done.

I was with my ex for 8.5 years. During that time he cheated on me multiple times, denied paternity of one of our kids and was physically and emotionally abusive. For whatever reason, I stayed through all of it until one day,  friend of mine was going through some really hard stuff and texted me that she was feeling suicidal. I told him I was going to spend the night at her house to make sure she was ok and see if she would still help in the morning. Our kids were already getting ready for bed but he told me that I had to choose between him or her. That was the moment I realized how selfish he was so I left and the next morning I came home and packed a bag and left.
