My unexpected 10 lb baby
First of all, let me start of by saying how amazed I am by the grace of God! I never thought I would love my daughter as much as I do.
We decided not to find out the gender of our baby, so the anticipation of meeting our nugget was surreal!
My due date was 1/1, by the time my due date rolled around I was still only about a centimeter. No movement. Doc did ultrasound, everything looked good with baby. My docs office induces at 41 weeks. So they scheduled my induction for the 9th of Jan. Little did I know she had her own plans.
I started to have bloody show the first Thursday of the year. By Saturday morning, the blood started getting heavier. I started having heavy cramping pain and decided to go into hospital. I got checked at this point I was 2 almost 3 centimeters dialated. I was sent home and nurse told me more than likely I would be back that night. I never lost my mucus plug. Around 11 pm I felt the biggest urge to poop followed by the feeling of someone ripping out my uterus. I realized at that moment I was having contractions. Itimed them and they were 12 mins apart. I woke up my fiancé and mom and told them it was time. When we got to hospital I was 3 centimeters dialated but with heavy contractions. The triage nurse begged doc not to send me home. By this time it was about 2 am and the pain was unbearable. I asked for an epidural and then it was waiting time. Doctor broke my water at 9 am and I was 5 centimeters. They increased the pitocin to get labor progressing quicker. By 1 pm I was just about ready to push!
After pushing for 3 hrs doc told me they were going to use the Vbac because of the progression. All of the sudden, all these other nurses come in and they're cheering me on my last push. I start crying because I was scared of not being able to finish pushing. The next thing I know, the doc and the nurses and taking bets on the babies weight and then I hear crying and everything after that is fuzzy. I remember hearing the doc say "it's a girl!" They put her on top of me and it was the best moment of my life. I asked the doctor if I had ripped and she said she had to do a few stitches.
My queen ended up weighing 10 lbs 4 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. She was born at 5:37 pm on Jan 8! No one knew she would be this big and I did not have diabetes during pregnancy either.
My fiancé took this pic after she was born.
