anyone experience a fistula??

So I found out I have a fistula and that's where you have a hole going from your anal walk through to your vagina and you can have feces debree come from you vagina... embarrassing I know.  I think mine originated from when I had my first born 6 years ago because I had a very terrible 4th degree tear... and I've had this issue for quite sometime but notice it getting worse . So I mentioned it to my doc she checked it and confirmed it and now I have to see a general surgeon to get it fixed. Just wondered if any of you ladies had this issue and been through the surgery and what can I expect from it ?? Side note I'm having my csection next week
