Nursery: carpet or hard floor?

Please comment on why! We're torn. Hardwood/laminate seems easier to clean but carpet is warmer.... We live in southern California but it does get chilly during the winter where we are.

Get a rug. You can throw those away if they get nasty for fairly cheap. Carpet not so much.

I vote for the hardwood with a large area rug. We bought a house with carpet and I so miss having hardwood like our old house. With kids and pets, the cleanup of spills on hardwood is so much easier than carpet. It's easier to replace an area rug than carpet if something stains or tears it.

As someone who has a husband that installs hardwood flooring we always go for hardwood. Area rugs go on top and they are way easier to clean and make sure dust isn't in them (and you can replace them easily if they get nasty.)

If you go with hardwood, you might want to think about getting a rug! It helps in the winter bc it can get cold and you can replace it or wash it more often than carpet.

It's so much easier to just vacuum. I have both floors in my house and while I do like the wood unless I'm constantly cleaning it my feet always feel dirty.

We moved into our first home I ripped out carpet and put laminate down. Carpet harbors SO much nasty stuff. Do laminate with rug (which you can clean easier than whole carpet)....

I've never had hardwood but I had tile and then moved to a house with carpet. I like the carpet in that it feels cozy and I worry less once they're bigger if they climb out of the crib for the first time or fall out of bed. The exception is once my son got sick and vomited, but you can get one of the hand held carpet cleaning machines, it came right out.
