What do you need for a baby,

What is the right thing you really need? I've never had children or taking care of a child. Or have any family who has been pregnant. So worried trying to prepare

I got everything for my son, loads off clothes, diapers, baby wipes, changing bag, dummies (if you want), baby bottles, baby formula, baby bottle cleaner, steriliser. Pram, car seat, bouncer, changing may or changing unit, cot or Moses basket.

Really if you're bfing all you need right away is you and some clothes! But realistically there is a lot of stuff on the market that makes life a bit easier. Start thinking about where baby will sleep, what time of year it will be, normal care items like thermometers and nail clippers, how you would like to bathe baby, if you want anywhere to put baby like a bouncy chair or swing, how you will travel (car seat obv but a stroller or a carrier or both?) just calmly think about day to day needs. Make a list and remove whatever is not necessary within the first 3 months (if you want, since you can and likely will go shopping during that time anyway for the future)

I would suggest checking out Pinterest for baby checklist, pregnancy checklist, hospital bag checklist, and post partum checklist.

For baby: Hats. Bibs. BurpCloths. Sleepers.One Pieces. Socks. Pants(Stretchy). Plain white onsies. Diapers size N&1. A lot of wipes. Baby shampoo & wash. Wash cloths. Towels. Baby lotion. Diaper rash cream. Thermometer. Baby nail clippers. Nasal aspirator( I don't know if that's the correct term). Baby bathtub. Infant carseat(these do expire). Crib or bassinet. Baby swing or bouncer is nice to have.

*When you buy clothes your baby will grow fast so I recommend Newborn, 0-3months, 3-6months outfits. Same as diapers Newborn and size 1. You'll go through a box of Newborn quickly but next thing you know you'll need size 1's.

* If you decide on to have a baby shower you'll probably get a majority of what you need.

Diapers, wipes, crib (or pack and play if you want the baby in room) gowns, some sort of infant tub, socks, nippy if you're nursing, car seat. For me, a ring sling or carrier was a necessity because we put her start into a convertible car seat. Blankets lots of baby blankets, heavy and warm and lighter sheet like ones!

Some things are obvious like a car seat, a crib, mattress, sheets, diapers, wipes, bottles (if you plan to exclusively pump or do formula) and stuff to clean them, clothes, blankets.

And then there's other things like a stroller, a swing or bouncer for baby, a bassinet or pack n play if you want the baby to sleep in your room for a while, a changing pad, a dresser or something to hold their clothes, just a few pacifiers (in case your baby doesn't like them), diaper bag, bibs and burp rags.

If you plan to nurse or exclusively pump I would look into the special items you would need for that. Hope all this helps(:
