Do you have your tonsils removed?

Just wondering. I have a cold now and my tonsils are inflamed and infected as hell as always. My parents have always had problems with their tonsils, mum couldn't even eat ice cream or drink cold water as a child as she would get tonsil infections and they both got them removed
