Mirena ??

Has any gotten the mirena before? After their first child Did the procedure hurt? How did your body react to it?

I had my baby at the end of November and I got the mirena put in about 7 weeks later. The procedure was painless. I had some mild discomfort for a few seconds, then some cramping for maybe an hour later. No problems whatsoever.

I had mirena for a few years and loved it. It hurt a little when I got it in but after that never even noticed it. Got it removed this past August because my husband and I wanted to start a family and I got pregnant that same month. Before I got mirena I was scared by all the horror stories I read. But remember people who have good experiences are usually quiet and people who don't like to complain. Most people have no problems with mirena. Talk to your OB.

I had the merina. I only had some cramping when they were putting it in and that's totally normal. I had it for two years. I had no period what so ever with it in, never had any problems with it at all. Got it taken out in July and was pregnant in Aug.

I had the Mirena for two years. Never had been pregnant then. Insertion was terrible. I bled for two months straight after getting it with terrible pains radiating to my knees. No periods after that though. Gained 30 pounds. Went through extreme mood swings for 6 months after getting it taken out.

I had the mirana 2 times and loved it. You will have bad cramping after it is inserted and a heavier period for a few months until your body gets used to having it. I tell people that you need to give it time so your body can adjust to it... Also my period after time shortened and became almost non existent. But everyone reacts differently to it.

I had to have my mirena laparoscopically removed. It perforated my uterus and tangled itself in my abdominal peritineum. After implantation they have you come back for a string check in two months to
Make sure everything's in order. Well, they couldn't find my strings. They sent me right over for a vaginal ultrasound. Nothing. I had an X-ray and it was in my upper left abdomen. I have a retroverted uterus and have always wondered if that had to do with it but please reconsider !!

Please use caution.  I have 2 friends who have had horror stories come from it.  One has horrible thyroid issues from it.  Do your homework!

I had the Mirena put in after my first child. I had a c-section, so I literally felt nothing during the insertion process. I didn't have any issues with it, other than having to go back and have the strings cut shorter because they were bothering my boyfriend at-the-time. At the end of the 5 years, I decided to go with the Paraguard instead, as it lasted longer and was non-hormonal.
