Godparents?

My husband and I decided who we want to be our son's godparents. I'm 24 weeks along now, so my question is when is the appropriate time to tell them? I always thought to wait till after he's born, but I do enjoy the idea of letting them know ahead of time so they can get excited about it/ get used to the idea they will have a Godson. Anyone have any input on this?
