How do I get rid of cigarette smell coming from somewhere else?

Question

I am 19 weeks pregnant and live in an apartment, and on an off their is this strong smell coming from the living room.

What can I do?

My window isn't open
The heater is independent and their are no vents

Is it possible that perhaps someone who lived here years ago, who was a smoker the smell be lingering still?

You could try sprinkling a whole box of baking soda on the carpet, leaving it there for as long as you can (for a few hours) and then vacuuming it up. Baking soda is amazing at getting up smells! If you have linoleum or hardwood floors, wash them with a white vinigar and water solution. You can even wipe down the walls with vinegar solution! You might want to leave the windows open though, the smell can get overwhelming.

If your heater/Ir conditioner come apart at all, try taking off at least the front panel and vacuuming it out. Dust can really hold onto funky smells!
