Instead of a bassinet, I recommend a pack n play with a built-in bassinet, you'll get longer term use of it. Babies outgrow bassinettes very quickly, pack n play has more room, and then when baby is mobile you can use it when you're doing housework etc, and it costs about the same. Walmart has great prices if you want new. But don't be afraid of buying second hand. If you're on Facebook, check to see if there are groups in your area of moms selling things. I've sold things that are practically new for very little money just to get it out of my house. Most things can be easily washed. Just a thought if you're strapped for cash :)

Car seat is something you should invest in new and bassinet try once upon a child or Craigslist or something. I'm sure u can find car seats on both but I just would rather new seeing car seats have recalls n made for a certain amount of year (I forget the life span) just new is better and safer.

Try local police departments and fire department, here they give away car seats for free and show you how to put them in properly.
