This is my first pregnancy and I'm terrified of what my friend has just told me. Is it true that when in labor they put a Catheter in you so you won't pee when delivering the baby? If this sounds stupid I'm sorry but my next appt isn't until March and I really need to know.

IF you have the epidural.. you wont feel the catheter.. youll be numb.

Yep. They did with me. Normal vaginal delivery. I had an epidural however and didn't feel a thing.

Yep happened with me! They put it in when I got the epidural and kept it in for about 1 1/2 hours after delivery.

I requested one as it was hard to get up and go pee, and I felt like I couldn't pee it was weird. I didn't have an epidural and I couldn't feel the catheter go in or the episiotomy I got. There's so much pain from the contractions and pressure that you don't even notice.

If you get the epidural, yes. You won't feel it at all. & they do that cuz with the epidural you won't feel you have to pee.

I had one, along with an epidural, and then I had it for another day and a half at least because I had a c-section. But it didn't hurt when they put it in or took it out.

I've heard about a woman who had an epidural but her doctor took out the catheter when she started to push. so depends on your doctor I guess how it goes
