Endometriosis?
Before I begin on why I believe this, let me just say I realize I need to see a gyno. An appointment has been made but I just wanted a general opinion from some other ladies.
I started my period on my 10th birthday (I am now 20) and for the first few years everything was normal. I had lighter and shorter periods than most (averaging about 4 days) but I just chalked that up to good luck. Around the age of 14, I began having terrible PMS. I could always tell when my period was going to start. I would get horrid backaches and migraines. A few months after this began, I started to have the worst cramps I've ever experienced. I know that all women are miserable during their time of the month but when I say the worst I really mean it. At first, it was a pain down my leg. I still remember the first time I got it because I attempted to "walk it off". As soon as I got up I began to get dizzy and ended up blacking out. The pain is terrible. It has me on the ground screaming. It lasts about 30 minutes to an hour and it only happens one time. I have gone to the hospital for it numerous times and they just give me pain killers. I continued to get the leg pains every four cycles until I turned 16. After 16 I got the leg pain every cycle and sometimes I would get it twice a cycle. My mother finally took me to a gyno where they examined me (I only had an ultrasound done because at the time I was still a virgin) and prescribed me a birth control. The birth control made the leg pain go away but it also stopped my cycles. So, I am not sure if it actually stopped the leg pain or not. Around the age of 18, I stopped taking the birth control. I had been diagnosed with something along the lines of POS when I was put on it. POS can cause infertility and being on birth control for long amounts of time can also make it hard to conceive. My boyfriend and I switched to non latex condoms. Of course, the leg pain and my cycles came back. This time the leg pain changed. Instead of being a constant pain in my leg it radiated from my leg to my back to my tummy. I cannot function at all when it happens. It's very painful when it's in my leg, makes me vomit when it's in my stomach and gives me diarrhea when it's in my back. Since the age of 18 (again I am 20 now) I have had to deal with this almost every month. I have spoken to many of my female friends and they have never had this kind of pain before. They have the usual cramps and headaches but overall their symptoms seem mild compared to mine. I have a very close friend who suffers from POS and she has suggested endometriosis. Of course, I realize only a doctor can diagnose that but could that really be it? I have yet to attempt to conceive but my fiancé and I have had a few scares. All of them have come up negative even when I was convinced they would not. Could that also be a symptom? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated! Or if you have this leg pain, please let me know! I have never heard of anyone else having it!
