Vag Fragrance

I was hanging out with friends yesterday and one of my guy friends who was laying on me said he could smell the "metal" in a jokingly manner and my crush was also laying on me & he chuckled. I'm not on my period but it is coming soon, how do I avoid these things? I wasn't sure if it was just a joke or not, my crush said he didn't really mind those things too much so he said he didn't notice but it still bothers me because I always try to be completely clean, any tips on what keeps the garden smelling like roses?
