why haven't I had a sonogram?

I had a prenatal appointment at 8weeks and the doc said it was too early to see a heartbeat . I was told I should wait for a referral in the mail to have a sonogram at a hospital. I haven't heard anything from the clinic. Should I see an other doctor because I am annoyed that I haven't even see my baby and I am 10 weeks. 😐

Normally the first ultrasound is at 12 weeks but sometimes you have to even wait until 20 weeks. People that get one early either had miscarriages or paid for an extra one. I had one at 8 weeks but I also had two prior miscarriages.

The only reason I had an ultrasound at 6wks was because I said I didn't remember the last mensturation date so they would "date" the pregnancy. Otherwise I'm sure I would have only had one at 19 wks!

Thanks for the feed back ladies . I guess it does depend on the doctor. It's my first pregnancy and I am alil worried . I just want to make sure he or she is ok . I will ask about maybe getting a earlier sonogram. 😬

I had my first ultrasound at 13 weeks, and then again at 20 weeks and that was it. Be patient momma, I'm sure baby is fine 😊

Unless you have irregular periods or are high risk then a scan before 20 weeks isn't really necessary. I've never had an ultrasound done before the normal anatomy scan.

A lot of doctors wait til 20. If you want to get one earlier I'd call around different doctors and see who will give you one! :)

I had an ultrasound done at 8 weeks only because I was having bad pains and they wanted to make sure baby wasn't ectopic. Btw you can clearly see a heartbeat at 8 weeks, my sons was 156 at that ultrasound. But I didn't get another ultrasound from my doctor until 19 weeks, when they did the anatomy scan. That would have been my first one had I not gotten one at 8 weeks. I think I will get another one around 30 weeks to check his growth, but that's it. If you want one done see if there are any freestanding ultrasound places to get one. I did that at 16 weeks to find out my baby's gender

I wanted an ob who did ultrasounds in their office, as my first pregnancy I had to go to a clinic to have it done, & only had 1! Most ob's in my area do a "pregnancy confirmation scan" at 8 wks, another at 16 for birth defects, one at 20 for gender.

Depends on the place mine does a scan at 8 weeks while others dont until 12 weeks. Maybe call n ask

My doctor will not scan till week 20. With some it depend on if you are 100% on last period
