So I'm getting towards the end here and I see a lot of women posting about I'm this effaced or baby weighs this much, what happens at your 35 week appointments that your doctors know all this? I'm just wondering what to expect cause usually my doc just listens to heartbeat and measures my belly with the measuring tape.

Mine starts checking at 36 weeks. It's my least favorite thing haha. It doesn't hurt but is just really uncomfortable to me. Effacement refers to how thin the cervix is and dilation is obviously dilation haha

Everyone seems to have answered your question about effacement but as for baby weight it's an estimate that they give either by measurements or a ultrasound.

Cervical exams are totally optional at prenatal appointments you - can definitely decline them if they make you uncomfortable - there is little to no benefit to them. They can increase risk of infection and also stress because you can become do focused on the number.

Some OB check dilation at 36w some don't till 40. Mine is by preference.. ask if you'd like to know. 
It is a bit uncomfortable

You just get measured and if your belly measures to much there put you in for a growth scan :) xx
