37 weeks and not dilating? 50% effaced

Hi ladies! Anyone around 37 weeks and not dilating yet? FTM here and not sure if it's supposed to start dilating a few weeks before the due date? Doc mentioned inducing at 40 weeks due to the diet controlled gestational diabetes.

I'm exactly the same. 37 weeks, 50%, 0 cm and -3 pelvic positioning. My midwife said at 37 weeks you can be 3cm and 90% effaced and not go into labor for weeks and some can be only 50% effaced and 37 weeks and go into labor the next day. Cervical state is not a good way to tell when you'll go into labor.

Most first time moms dont dilate or efface tooo much before labour starts especcially when you are only 37 weeks. Some do of course but 50% effaced is really good. In labour effacement is even more important than dilation. Dont worry some women spend weeks at 6 cm and some go into labour at 0

I go to doctor on Monday and I hope I'm somewhat effaced or dilated. I'll be 36 weeks too and I'm having a boy. I've walked through my whole pregnancy at work nonstop. I hope that helped and helps me deliver faster than I usally take.

With my first there was no dilation or effacement until the day I went into labor and she was a week late.

You just have to wait it out girl. Babies are mean and come when they want! I'd walk and just look towards 40 weeks. Lol, I hate the "being disappointed" because baby isn't coming.

I'm 36 weeks today, just left the doctor. I'm 80 percent effaced, and still no dilation.
