How to get rid of pacifier? 5 months old

I posted this like 4 days ago but i didn't have answers or tips and i'm desperate

Is there a reason you're adamant about getting rid of it? My son is 5 months as well and uses a pacifier. He doesn't have any teeth yet and it helps him sleep, so I don't see the point in taking it away from him. I'm thinking closer to 1 is when we'll ditch it. 5 months is still pretty little. Is it causing a problem in some way?

The best way to do away with it is literally to throw it away and don't offer it anymore. YES it will be rough for a few days but baby will adjust. I promise

If you need to do it, from what I've seen, the best way is to cut the tips off of them and baby will no longer get the satisfaction
