Contractions, labor, delivery. How bad is the pain?

I'm trying my best to be positive and hope to have a natural birth, going to do everything I can to be strong. Positive delivery stories would definitely help! I know at the end if I need some sort of relief I'll take it! Not all birth plans goes as plan! Any tips on how to not make it worse for yourself and how to make it easier will be greatly appreciated! I'm getting nervous.

I've had an emergency c sec with baby one, a vbac with epidural with baby 2, and a vbac with no pain meds with baby 3 (got to the hospital at 10cm). Number 2 was the least stressful and painful I was super relaxed and number 3 I'm pretty sure I cussed out the doctor lol the good part was I had her out in 3 pushes. The pain was the worst of my life and I knew the only relief was Goin to come from me getting baby out so all 3 were different it all depends on you and which route you go. I will say I felt like a super hero for laboring at home all the way to full dilation lol

It will hurt! I mean you're literally pushing a HUMAN BEING out of your vagina but that pain will end before you know it. And then you'll have a tiny pain in the butt to pull on your heart strings.

Of course it's painful, but totally worth it, you will literally forget every second of pain you felt when youre finally are holding your baby! And personally, I think the recovery process after birth sucks worse than any part of labor did

It really depends on your body. I've had 3 kids... with my first 2 I got the epidural right away and the recovery was the worst part. My labors lasted less then 6 hours. With my 3rd child I was bound and determined to go all natural. I made it to 7cm and thought every bone in my body was being crushed with every contraction. It was terrible. I requested a pain medication but refused an epidural. The pain medication did nothing and after 4 more contractions I screamed for an epidural. My son was born 10 minutes after I received the epidural. My labor that time was a total of 12 hours long. My body was so tense that I wasn't progressing as well as I had in the past and as soon as I got the epidural I was complete and ready to push. In fact the epidural hadn't even kicked in for the pushing so I felt everything. I wish I would have gotten the epidural sooner but I was so jealous of all these mom's having a med free birth that I really wanted to do it without meds as well. I wanted a water birth. I wanted to squat and catch my baby. 
With all that being said I do have a recent tailbone injury and I think that had something to do with the pain. I was shaking uncontrollably and required oxygen at one point. My body just couldn't take it anymore. Your body may do great. Your pain tolerance could be awesome. You never know what you can accomplish. But I hope you try. I'm sad that I couldn't make to the end but I'm glad I tried.
