Way too many variants to say. You'll just have to see for yourself. I've had some that were ok and some that were painful. Went to the er the other week for bleeding and contractions and he checked my cervix and with my rear end nearly hanging off the end of that table bed thing, the stupid stirrup fell and made my entire left side fall in the process. It hurt so bad! They make you slide your booty to the end while your feet are up in these stirrup things so your legs are up and spread. Then they put this metal contraption there to open you up and see inside. That's honestly the worst part. The swab isn't bad usually.

Mine hurt because she used a speculum that was to big and then told me I had a small narrow vagina. Ehh.. I've had others that didn't hurt though.

Awkwardness is the worst.  Cold if they don't warm the gel.  It doesn't hurt though, more tickles for a second. It's over super quickly though.
