I called the pediatrician this morning because I suspected Ella has reflux (she gags often/can't catch her breath/ gets scared and screams and sometimes projectile vomits) - tried to make appt - they said the nurse would call back. She called and gave a few suggestions (that I'd already done) - so I asked if we could get medication for it - she said she had to ask the doctor. Well fast forward to the next feeding - she choked, coughed, then stopped making any sound (bad sign) while struggling to breathe and then she turned red and then purple - I turned her over and did a few back blows (all my nursing knowledge went out the window) and she then started whimpering - so I rushed her to the pediatrician. Diagnosis: severe reflux - feeding and sleeping modifications and medication. That was THE WORST feeling and moment of my life. I was shaking for an hour and cried the whole way to the office. 😫 she's ok now but I don't think I'll ever be able to relax.
